Ethereum

Ethereum is the leading programmable blockchain, launched in 2015, and the foundation for most of the decentralized finance, NFT, and Web3 ecosystem. It transitioned from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake in 2022 (The Merge), significantly reducing its energy consumption. Ethereum is also the anchor for a growing family of Layer 2 networks — including Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base — that extend its capacity for scalable, low-cost applications.
