UMA is an optimistic oracle and smart contract protocol used to resolve off-chain data questions for DeFi, prediction markets, insurance, and other decentralized applications. Its oracle design lets proposed answers be disputed and settled through tokenholder participation. UMA is used for governance, dispute resolution, security, and protocol incentives.
